Burketown Airport

Durack Civil has been engaged by Burke Shire Council to deliver the Burketown Airport Reconstruction and Remediation Works, upgrading the runway, stabilising the Albert River embankment, and improving Airport Road to boost safety, resilience, and regional connectivity.

The scope includes full runway reconstruction with lime-stabilised subgrade, new pavement, sealing, line marking, lighting, stormwater upgrades, embankment remediation, and Stage 2 of the Airport Road upgrade. A temporary runway will maintain operations throughout delivery.

Key challenges include remote logistics, continuous airport operations, seasonal weather risks, and environmental and cultural sensitivities. Durack Civil will coordinate specialist subcontractors and local suppliers, ensuring safe, compliant delivery to CASA standards.
