Scope

Durack Civil was engaged by Maranoa Regional Council to deliver the Maranoa Apex Park to Roma Airport pathway project, involving the construction of a shared pedestrian and cyclist pathway linking Apex Park to Roma Airport. The project enhances safety, connectivity, and accessibility along a key transport corridor, providing a durable and low-maintenance asset for the local community.

The scope of works included bulk earthworks, topsoil stripping, subgrade preparation, pavement construction, and construction of the shared concrete pathway, including kerb ramps, kerb and channel, and driveway demolitions and reconstructions. Additional works comprised stormwater drainage installation, trench drains, culverts, signage, linemarking, and associated road furniture. Works were delivered in staged packages to maintain access to adjacent businesses and properties, with all activities completed in accordance with Council specifications, approved traffic management plans, and environmental controls.

Delivered within an active road environment and high-use public area, the project required careful staging, traffic management, and stakeholder coordination to minimise disruption. Key challenges included maintaining safe public access throughout construction and managing environmental risks such as stormwater and erosion, ensuring compliance with design and safety standards.
