Byron Landslips

Durack Civil has been engaged by Byron Shire Council to deliver emergency stabilisation works at Wilsons Creek following severe landslip events. The project is essential to restoring safe access for residents, school transport, and emergency services while improving long-term slope stability in a high-risk hinterland area.

The scope includes clearing, excavation of slip material, installation of ground anchors and soil nails, reinforced shotcrete, rockfall protection, drainage reinstatement, retaining structures, batter reshaping, erosion controls, and pavement reinstatement.

Key challenges include steep, unstable terrain, limited site access, managing live traffic, high rainfall, and environmental sensitivities. Stabilisation works must balance immediate safety needs with long-term geotechnical resilience.
