MMG Mining contracted Durack Civil to construct a 1.3 km Mine Access Road through rocky terrain at their Dugald River Mine site just North of Cloncurry.
Scope:
The project involved bulk earthworks in rocky terrain, detailed cut to fill and batter/drain works, sediment dam construction, pavement construction and berm works.
Challenges:
Large iron stone boulders in sub-grade and tight construction tolerances required specialist operators and equipment to achieve the design intent.
