Cook Shire, Bloomfield Rd

Durack Civil was engaged by Cook Shire Council to undertake flood reconstruction works at Bloomfield Road – Site 9, following damage from Tropical Cyclone Jasper in December 2023. The project aimed to restore road access and stabilize a geotechnically sensitive embankment under the DRFA funding program, while managing traffic and liaising with various regulatory stakeholders. The works involved excavation of failed pavement and embankments, construction of micropile foundations, soil nailing, gabion wall construction, stormwater drainage, scour protection, full pavement reconstruction with bitumen seal, and the installation of guardrails, signage, and linemarking. The project faced challenges in maintaining traffic access and coordinating multiple stakeholders under strict environmental and permitting conditions.
