Churchie Creek Bank Stabilisation Works
Scope
Durack Civil has been engaged by Anglican Church Grammar School to deliver urgent creek bank stabilisation works along Norman Creek, safeguarding school facilities and critical infrastructure from further subsidence. At Site 1, works involve excavation of a bank failure behind the school pool facilities and the installation of two rows of gabion baskets over a 50 m stretch, founded on a rock mattress with a combigrid base. These works are scheduled around tidal movements of the Brisbane River to allow safe and effective construction. During the school holiday period, Sites 2 and 3 will be addressed with the installation of 200 timber piles driven to a depth of 5 m. Designed by Bligh Tanner, the timber piles will be placed within existing mangrove roots without causing damage, working in tandem with the vegetation to anchor the bank and mitigate tidal impacts.
