Scope

Durack Civil successfully delivered Stage 3 of the Bollon Road Reconstruction Works for Maranoa Regional Council under the Queensland Reconstruction Authority’s disaster recovery program, following significant flood damage across the region. Bollon Road is a critical freight and community route providing access between St George, Bollon, and surrounding rural properties.

The project involved the rehabilitation and reconstruction of both sealed and unsealed road sections, restoring the asset to pre-event condition while improving long-term resilience, safety, and reliability for road users. Works included full-depth pavement reconstruction, gravel resheeting, in-situ stabilisation, application of a two-coat bitumen seal, shoulder grading, drainage reinstatement, and table drain cleaning.

Delivered in a remote environment with extended work zones, the project required careful coordination of materials, plant, and personnel. Durack Civil effectively managed weather variability and programme risks, implementing flexible scheduling and robust contingency planning. Traffic management and stakeholder communication were successfully maintained to ensure safe and continuous access along Bollon Road, while environmental and erosion controls were delivered in compliance across all work areas.

The successful completion of this project further strengthens Durack Civil’s ongoing partnership with Maranoa Regional Council in delivering regional recovery and infrastructure resilience outcomes.
