Scope

Durack Civil has been engaged by Cloncurry Shire Council to upgrade the gravel section of Granada Road to a bitumen-sealed pavement as part of the 2023 Betterment Program. This project, approved by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA), includes road remediation and bitumen sealing works to enhance the durability and resilience of Granada Road. The 13.9km upgrade scope involves sourcing 10,000m³ of subbase material from a council pit, importing 9,000m³ of Type 2.3 base, minor earthworks at the intersection, installation of four Aprilla cattle grids, road sealing, subgrade treatment, and stabilisation. Given the project's remote location—70km from Cloncurry—and limited access to water, careful logistical planning will be essential to ensure smooth execution.
