Matt Broad in Milingimbi

Experience and investment

Meet Matt Broad aka Broady, our weapon civil supervisor in the north, bringing to life the Milingimbi subdivision. For Matt, civil supervising is not just about building, it’s about building trust. He’s passionate about seeing each project as an opportunity to grow his team’s skills and connect with local subcontractors and services. Broady also takes great pride in delivering projects that stand the test of time and contribute meaningfully to the local community.

Durack Civil was engaged by the Northern Territory Government to deliver a new residential subdivision in the remote island community of Milingimbi in the East Arnhem Region, a project requiring significant logistical planning with all resources and materials barged five days from Darwin. The works included demolition and removal of existing structures and underground services (including UXOs), bulk earthworks, allotment grading, and construction of new roads, supported by the installation of concrete culverts, pavements, and stormwater drainage. New sewerage, potable water, electrical, and communications reticulation systems were established to service the subdivision, with final works including grassing of batters and disturbed areas. Complex challenges such as limited water supply, fuel logistics, and sensitive community engagement were successfully managed, showcasing Durack Civil’s capacity to deliver critical infrastructure in remote environments.
